Founded in 1881, Incarnate Word High School (IWHS) is an independent, all-female, tuition-funded college preparatory school whose mission is to inspire confidence and intellectually stimulate young women to prepare them for success in both college and life. Demanding coursework, community service, athletics and other extracurricular activities promote the intellectual, spiritual, and physical qualities required to achieve academic and career goals. Currently, IWHS educates 560 young women (80% ethnic minority, 87% Catholic, and 39% financially supported). Based on past success, 100% are expected to enroll at a college or university after graduation from high school. IWHS does not receive state or federal support. Tuition assistance and financial aid is provided by foundations, trusts, endowments, Casino Night and private donations.
